Thanks to the reporting of my colleague Liz Sadler, I share with you some really cool news. Liz, take it away:
“The business partner of celebrity chef Mario Batali is the new owner of the Tarry Lodge restaurant in Port Chester, but plans for the Mill Street property are still up in the air.
Joe Bastianich, who lives in Greenwich, Conn., and owns roughly a dozen restaurants with Batali and his mom, Lidia, is in the midst of gutting the restaurant, which was ravaged by fire in October 2005.
fter a renovation is complete, Bastianich said he may decide to sell the restaurant or expand his food empire to Port Chester. A new restaurant could involve Batali, he said.
We bought a piece of real estate but it’s very unclear what we’re doing with it, Bastianich said.
Bastianich and Batali spokeswoman Pamela Lewy denied reports that the chef was involved in the purchase.”
Look for her story in tomorrow’s Journal News.
