So, I couldn’t choose just one. But after a long search throughout Rockland, I narrowed it down to three. (That photo, by ace photographer Mark Vergari, is of the one from Sutter’s Mill in Suffern. Good, but didn’t win.)

To see the winners, click here to see the story from Rockland magazine.

Also check out the blog posts from the hunt, where readers guessed which burgers I was sampling.

Annie’s Shake Shack. (It has since closed. Boo hoo, I miss it already.)

Sutter’s Mill, 214 Route 59, Suffern. 845-357-6556.

The Publik House, 30 Ramapo Road (Rte. 202), Garnerville. 845-429-3092; www.thepublikhouse.net

Gildea’s Bar & Restaurant, 61 E. Central Ave., Pearl River. 845- 735-2564.

Bailey’s Smokehouse, 136 Erie St., Blauvelt. 845-398-1457.

Olde Village Inne, 97 Main St., Nyack. 845-358-1160.

The Saloon, 49 W. Central Ave., Pearl River. 845-735-5300.

O’Donoghue’s Tavern, 66 Main St., Nyack. 845-358-0180; www.odsofnyack.com

Lushane’s, 8 N. Broadway. Nyack. 845-358-5556.

(Apologies this took so long to post, and thanks for the nudge, Michele!)

So what do you think? Did I miss your favorite? Do you agree with my assessment?

I am extremely offended that a woman judged the contest for best burger. This is crealy a man’s job. Women should judging the contest for best kitchen apron.

why are you positing “old news”; this has been in the rockland magazine since at least the Spring.

I’m certain you’re welcome to hold your own judging and report the results back here.

    Mike,
Because Michele asked me to post the link. It had been in my drafts since June (when the magazine came out) and it had been there so long I didn’t even see it anymore! So I cleaned it up and posted it this morning.

Lots of people who read the blog don’t get Rockland mag, too, this is their chance to see it.

Thank you Liz! Correct, I did not see Rockland Mag. I’ve been waiting so long since you 1st note in the blog about your search. I can’t believe it was way back in June. It was worth the wait. Now I have to get to Lushane’s.
