Food Finds in the Lower Hudson Valley

A Gourmet Tasting, For A Good Cause

October
8

This just in from the people over at Westchester ARC:
Gourmet Gala Will Benefit People
with Developmental Disabilities

On October 17, from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m.,  A Matter of Taste 4 will serve up delicacies from the area’s finest restaurants (see list), accompanied by over 30 international wines and specialty beers. The gourmet gala will be hosted by the Westchester Arc Foundation at the Westchester Country Club in Rye, New York. Previous events have featured such specialties as lamb shank osso buco, sea scallops frittata and white chocolate mousse-filled sugar cones. Live jazz and the ever popular chocolate fountain will round out the evening.
The annual fundraiser benefits children and adults with developmental disabilities and recognizes outstanding contributions to their inclusion in community life.  This year, former Westchester Arc president Justin Israel will be honored with a lifetime achievement award, recognizing over 50 years of commitment to the agency and ongoing fundraising leadership.

Al Donnellan, a founding partner of the law firm of DelBello, Donnellan, Weingarten, Wise & Wiederkehr, LLP, will receive the agency’s community leader award. Mr. Donnellan has been involved in some of the most complex real estate projects in Westchester and has been instrumental in the sale of Westchester Arc’s 121 Westmoreland Avenue offices.  The agency plans to move to a newly constructed facility in Hawthorne, New York, early next year.
Bill Cuddy, of CB Richard Ellis, a global leader in real estate services, and Peter Herrero, president and owner of the New York Hospitality Group, are event co-chairmen. Former New York State Senator Nick Spano serves as honorary chairman.

The event’s silent auction will offer excursions to Hawaii, Cancun and Key West, a Colorado ski vacation, a hot-air balloon ride and much more. Guests can also buy raffle tickets for a 32-inch high-definition plasma television, iphone and digital camera.

Established over 55 years ago, Westchester Arc is the largest agency in the county serving children and adults with autism, Down syndrome, cerebral palsy and other developmental disabilities.  The agency is funded through both public and private means.
