Food Finds in the Lower Hudson Valley

First Look: Murasaki Japanese Restaurant in Nyack

Some of the best sushi I’ve ever had.

Nothing fancy, just pure, clean, simple. Cut well. Rice seasoned just slightly with vinegar and wasabit. Handled with care.

I went a couple of Saturday nights ago and the place was packed.

The owenr, Umi, was at the helm.

Couples at the sushi bar. The restaurant is a typical Japanese place: light wood, brightly lit.

Umi gave us a little tuna dish to start. Wow.

This was the tataki. Amazing.

The uni was so sweet. Like eating the ocean.

The salmon fell apart on my tongue.

Even the octopus was great. Chewy, but not too much.
