I have to say that I never ate there and NEVER will. Why? It was the 3rd of July and there were fireworks at the Kensico Dam. Now I respect private property as much as anyone but I saw TONS of spaces in Sir Johns. My idea was to stay with the car and watch while standing in the lot. That way, if the lot started filling up, I could leave. An employee (at least I HOPE it was only an employee) came out threatened me with the police and being towed. Nothing short of NASTY, SURLY, AND VICIOUS. I'm in the service industry and am generally very polite, but I was far from it in this case and rightly so. If this is an example of their public face – I suggest my worst enemy eat there.

Actually, I am going to qualify the above comment since I don't know how to edit it. The location has an issue with people who will try to park there – leave their cars and essentially FREELOAD. I was concerned about patrons trying to get in – so that was why I was standing by the car to begin with. Instead of being POLITE – they were nasty and surly. I understand the frustration because I have clients who take up tons of my time (which is money) as I chase information for them and nothing comes of it. Not one penny. So I feel their pain.

I didn't even read the review, I was so ticked off by their terrible attitude I just wanted to use the internet to vent. I have patronized other restaurants owned by this family and have been pleased with the service and the food. If it is anything like their other restaurants, they offer excellent fare at a reasonable price.

With all due respect, this is a situation where the owners need to make lemonade out of lemons. There is nothing else for it because the problem is on-going and I'm not the only one who is going to come away angry and spread it around. Being rude and nasty is only going to harm the image of the restaurant. When there is a festival or event by the Kensico Dam, they need to use it as an opportunity to lure new patrons and not drive people away or get them angry. Let them park there if they buy something – offer a 4th of July special for those who would like to eat and watch the fireworks from their cars. Do ANYTHING other than what they did.

Lady you are so wrong. Let me park in your driveway one night and say i'm just watching the the stars, moon whatever. You'd call the cops in faster than a New York minute. Obviously, this happens most 4th of July's so the employees know people like yourself are gonna try and take advantage of their PRIVATE PARKING LOT. You say the employee was rude. I'm sure you acted like Mother Theresa. Bottom line – you parked in a place for patrons of those stores only. You were in the wrong. And i do not think that Sir John's will miss you. They've been open 29years and i hope they stay around 29 more. (I've only been there twice in my lifetime but no complaints. Just to far a drive from upper Putnam County.)
