Food Finds in the Lower Hudson Valley

The Blauvelt Diner Has Sushi!

April
25

I took my grandmother out to lunch the other day and we wound up at the Blauvelt Diner. The food was quite good, but what struck me as newsworthy was the sushi!

I didn’t really notice it before we ordered, and I was in the mood for a salad, anyway:

The greek salad. Good. Juicy chicken. Nice amount of feta. Warm pita. I recommend it.

Grandmom got the chicken Caesar wrap with fries.

Lots o’ fries.

The diner:

So what about the sushi? The table next to me ordered a couple of rolls and seemed to enjoy them. Has anyone else tried it?

Jonas and I tried the sushi at Blauvelt Diner a couple of months ago and our response was that we don’t go to sushi restaurants expecting good spanakopita either.

If you look across the street from them, the new super humungous “New City” diner will be opening soon. I wouldn’t be surprised if the Blauvelt Diner starts offering free drinks along with their sushi.

Blauvelt Diner? If you want good diner food head to Hogan’s in Orangeburg. Then stop by Hikaru in the same plaza—best sushi around.
