The view from Elements, which opened recently on Mamaroneck Avenue. It might well be the only rooftop bar in the Lower Hudson Valley. Also, after the jump, new restaurants on Main Street and a visit to Peniche for the much-sought-after pata negra.
Seriously, does anyone know of any other rooftop bar in the region? Here’s the view from Elements:
Looking back at the covered part of the bar. Cool, huh? You can sit there even when it’s raining!
I just wish they served better wine. It’s one of those “pinot grigio-or-chardonnay?” places.
After a visit to Elements, we walked to Peniche. Along the way, we saw them putting the finishing touches on Via Quadronno, which will open May 15:
And noticed another new spot across the street. I don’t know what this place is going to be, but it looks pretty cool. Any one have intel?
Here’s the outside:
There are renovations going on at Karamba Cafe:
Looking down the street: Renovations at Karamaba, the yet-unnamed new restaurant and, in the far distance, Via Quadronno.
Once at Peniche we had some delicious Basque wine:
And sampled the pata negra, which is a ham made from special Iberian pigs who forage for acorns. Look at the difference in color between it (foreground) and the regular jamon Iberico!
Christian, the chef de cuisine, told us that it’s not quite a fair comparison because the regular jamon comes from the pork shoulder and the pata negra is from the hind leg, but still….
A fun — and enlightening — evening.
