Dan Leader, founder and baker, Bread Alone. After his classic bread book, Dan has come out with Local Breads, a compendium of some of Europe’s best artisinal breads. Also hot off the press is his new Panini book!

Dan is offering a very special day at Rainbeau Ridge on May 28 — sign up for any or all!  All proceeds will be donated to the South African Development Fund.

9:30am-12:30pm, Local Breads—Dan will demonstrate three breads from his latest cookbook—come try your hand at bread baking—whether you’re a beginner or an accomplished baker, you’re sure to learn from this expert! Receive a signed copy of Local Breads. (Fee $150)

1:30-3:00pm, Panini Express—Discover how easy and delicious making your own panini can be—get inspired and take advantage of the great Rainbeau Ridge ingredients as Dan shows us the ropes. Receive a signed copy of Panini Express.(Fee $75)

7pm—Join us over wine and cheese as Dan shares his story of how his journey to South Africa for a consulting assignment changed his life forever, inspiring him to embark on his SA Bread Project. (Suggested donation $50)

NOTE: All proceeds from Dan’s classes and talk are going to the South African Bread project—a non-profit venture in KwaZulu Natal where mobile bakeries will be established to provide nutritionally fortified bread and offer employment opportunities to HIV/ AIDs patients. GIFT CERTIFICATES are not eligible for Dan’s events…Tax deductible checks can be made out to South African Development Fund.
