Statement from Christina Minardi,
Northeast Regional President for Whole Foods Market
RE: Closter

“We plan to open a great neighborhood store in the Borough of Closter.
The New Jersey Palisades is a fantastic area and we believe we’ve found
a perfect location to serve that community.

Northern New Jersey has been good to Whole Foods Market.  Not only do we
have six stores in the area already, we have our regional offices for
the tri-state in Edgewater.  We look forward to building even stronger
ties to the area in the coming months and years.”

Background

*       The new store will be located in the Closter Town Square
Shopping Center, which will be renovated by the landlord in the coming
months.

*       The new store will be more than 41,000 square feet and is
expected to open in late 2009 or early 2010.

*       Currently, Whole Foods Market has nine locations in New Jersey.
Closter is the third store in development, including Millburn, which
will locate later this year to a larger space.  A location in Paramus
will open in 2009.

*       The new store is expected to add 250 new jobs to the community.

*       For the 11th year in a row, Whole Foods Market earned a spot on
FORTUNE magazine’s annual list of the “100 Best Companies to Work For.”
Whole Foods Market is pro-employee, allowing its Team Members to build a
career with the company.  Approximately 90 percent work full time and
are eligible for comprehensive healthcare benefits, profit sharing,
stock options and other benefits.
