Farmers Market Loot, June 12

Today was light on the loot.
I’m heading to Mount Kisco Seafood later today to finish reporting on the kindai tuna, so I figure I’ll be coming home with fish. So I didn’t get any meat. (Besides, I’ve got ground beef and pork ribs from Sir William Farm in Craryville, NY in my freezer.) So without further ado:
Clockwise from bottom
Strawberries from Blooming Hill Farm, $6 per quart
Sugar snap peas from Blooming Hill Farm, $4 per pound
Chardonnay from Warwick Valley Winery, $15
Sheep’s Milk Ricotta from the Valley Shepherd, $5.
Asparagus from Blooming Hill Farm, $5 per bunch.
Total: $39.
What am I going to do with it? After the jump.
Looking pretty simple this week. Sugar snaps with a little butter and salt and asparagus on the grill. I’ll probably reduce down some balsamic vinegar and drizzle that over strawberries and ricotta.
I don’t need any lettuce from the farm market, my own is doing quite well:
So are the herbs:
And pretty soon, I’ll have blueberries!
So what are you making with your local, seasonal produce? How much did you pay for it? What are you growing yourselves? Did anyone plant more vegetables and fruit this year because of food costs?

Liz-
I come to your site to get the cutting edge restaurant news, but I’m finding I really love your farmer’s market, gardening, and cooking posts.
Your pictures have inspired me to cook more the last few weeks.
