Food Finds in the Lower Hudson Valley

Frank Pepe's Pizzeria Coming To Westchester

August
4

The famous “a-pizz” joint from New Haven will be landing in Yonkers, according to a story in the Westchester Business Journal (which I found through chowhound).

It will open on Central Ave in the spot where Ricky’s Clam House used to be. According to the article, they’ll be using the same recipe and a pizza oven just like the one in New Haven.

…. the same menu, ingredients and recipes passed down by founder Frank Pepe to his daughters and subsequently to his seven grandchildren actively involved in the business today.

…. a 14- by 14-foot, 30,000-pound oven custom-built on the premises that replicates the oven installed by Pepe in New Haven in 1938.

And this is my favorite quote from the story:
“Our menu is very simple,” (Kenneth) Berry, (chief operating officer of Frank Pepe’s Development Company), said. “It’s pizza, beer, soda and wine.”
