Food Finds in the Lower Hudson Valley

Martha Visits Richard Gere’s Barn at Bedford Post

August
27

Martha Stewart and her friend and stable manager rode their horses from her Bedford farm, hitched them up and had brunch at Bedford Post last week.

She’s got great photos of an egg sandwich on a flaky biscuit served with crispy hash browns; brioche French toast stuffed with mixed berries and ginger; tempura (fresh vegetables and squash blossoms  lightly battered and fried and sprinkled with fennel pollen); an heirloom tomato salad served with mozzarella, shaved fennel, and purslane (no matter how good it tastes I can’t bring myself to eat purslane because it is the bane of my garden’s existence); and beluga lentil and quinoa served with avocado and organic local tomatoes.

Plus, there’s a portrait of chef Brian Lewis, looking handsome and dapper as ever.

Check out the visit on her blog.

    Hey Liz,

Was just reading up on the 411 for Bedford Post. From what I hear the pastry chef listed, Jessica Haight, is no longer at the Bedford Post. The one responsible for the bakery creations is Jessica Minisci.
