Food Finds in the Lower Hudson Valley

Photos from the Rooftop at Red Hat on the River

You can’t dine up on the roof at Red Hat on the River in Irvington. But it is one of the most relaxing places I’ve sipped a glass of rosé in quite some time.

It’s furnished comfortably:

And the sunset is killer.

And so is the view.

Thanks for the tip on the Rooftop at Red Hat. Upon reading your review, I immediately took my wife there yesterday at about 4:30 for an afternoon post holiday week vacation cocktail. The staff was on their pre-dinner break, and we were told we could get a drink at the bar downstairs and take it up to the deck ourself. (Always fun to carry a martini in a martini glass, up two flights of stairs)

It was beautiful up there, and the views were magnificent. One note though. Just as in your pictures, it was empty besides us. We were the only ones there. One staff person was busy setting up candles and arranging cushions, aside from us, no one.

It seems to be a great late night venue for drinks, however, when asked, we were told they close the deck at 10. There needs to be more venues such as this to sit outside on a deck like this one and have drinks and maybe music…. This location seems to be perfect for that because there are no sleeping neighbors within ear-shot to complain. There are so many roof deck bars/restaurants in other cities big and small. Rockland/Westchester could use a few more outdoor venues… Just my Opinion.
