Fall Restaurant Preview: Haiku Asian Bistro

This original post only reported a new Haiku in Mamaroneck. In fact, there will be two new restaurants. I have edited the post so it’s correct.
Two more Haiku Asian Bistros are coming to Westchester. Owner Michael Lee says he’s opening one in Mamaroneck in late September and a fourth in White Plains in March of 2009. (The others are in Bronxville and Cross River.) The White Plains restaurant will take over the spot that was formerly Acapulco at the corner of Mamorneck Avenue and East Post Road. It will be a large space with sidewalk seating. The Mamaroneck restaurant will be more intimate. It will have a waterfall behind the sushi bar, chocolate leather banquettes, Brazilian cherrywood floors and mahogany doors that open to the sidewalk. “The menu is about 80 percent similar to the other restaurants,†says Lee, and that means Asian fusion dishes like sesame chicken and Malaysia red curry, as well as creative sushi and sashimi. It will highlight the best available produce and fish, which Lee’s chef buys directly from Hunts Point almost daily. There will also be a small private dining area. 265 Mamaroneck Ave., Mamaroneck. 914-381-3200; 149 Mamaroneck Ave., White Plains, no phone yet. haikuasianbistro.com. — Judith Hausman and Liz Johnson

Liz,
Haiku is opening on Mamaroneck Avenue in downtown White Plains directly across from the Lazy Boy Saloon, not in the town of Mamaroneck. The location formerly housed the restaurant Acapulco.
You are so right. I’m editing too fast! Thank you so much for pointing out the error. I’ll fix it right now.
Missy, looks like we’re both right! I have edited the original post to include the M’neck and WP locations. He’s also opening a Haiku in Woodbury, Long Island but I don’t need to confuse matters further in the original post!
