Food Finds in the Lower Hudson Valley

Good evening and happy Monday. Sorry I was slow on posting today. This morning I was doing a video shoot for a cool feature we’re doing: holiday countdown. Chefs are coming to cook in my kitchen, so we can make sure their recipes are easy enough to make at home.

On Wednesday, look for a chestnut-squash soup from Jon Pratt; in a couple weeks we’ll have more chefs’ recipes, including from Dave DiBari of Zuppa and Peter Kelly of Xaviars. Check out the blog on Wednesdays for the videos and recipes through the holidays!

This weekend was the calm before the holiday storm. Not much cooking; I did boring things like clean out my basement and stack firewood. I did have a great time at Saturday’s launch party for Metromix at Vertigo in Nyack! (Check out all the photos and vidoes here.) Afterward I had a fabulous dinner at Velo in Nyack.

There’s a new great menu. I tried the mac and cheese and my husband got the lamb shank. Great.

With that, here’s what people were talking about this weekend!

MH mostly likes the unpretentious comfort food at The Cabin in Greenbugh. (NYT)
She also visits Bisou, the French patisserie and cafe in Pleasantville. (NYT)
Marge and David find two sides to dinner at Hostaria Mazzei in Port Chester. (Westchester mag)
Italian tapas in Westchester. (WM)
More reports from The Tarry Lodge. (CH)
Dara’s Thanksgiving menu sounds delishy.
(CITK)

Plus, the rest of Westchester magazine’s food coverage this month:

Gifts for food lovers.
Local bakeries make eye candy for the holidays.
Chestnut soup from Plates in Larchmont.
Cookies and milk at the Ritz-Carlton’s lobby.
Nibbles: Sweet Grass Grill, Empanada Joe’s, Don Emilio at Lobo’s Cafe.
Giving the gift of wine.
