Food Finds in the Lower Hudson Valley

Table Local Market in Bedford Hills Having Its Grand Opening Saturday

April
16

As I wrote in yesterday’s paper, Table Local Market in Bedford Hills is carrying all kinds of local and organic products, as well as serving prepared foods and selling dry goods. When I went for the reporting last week, chef Jon Pratt made me this amazing pulled pork sandwich for lunchy lunch.

Though I must admit, the pizza tempted me:

The shop, which is super cute and all green, is having its grand opening on Saturday. Rumor is that Jean-Georges Vongerichten, who has a house in Waccabuc, will be there. I might be too! (Now seriously, who would you rather see? Yes, yes, JG. I know.) Here’s a look at the shop, after the jump.

Too bad about the pillars. You don’t really notice them while you’re there, but they look funny in this photo. Believe me, once you’re shopping, your eye is taken in too many other beautiful directions to notice. That table in the middle has bread, herbs, tomatoes (no, not local, but they’re from a farm in Florida, and Jean-George recommended them) and a really cool “green” floral arrangement made of sticks and newspapers.

Over to the left there is a refrigerated produce display:

All these crates displaying local goods are recycled wine crates painted white:

Mmm. Scones and cookies.

There’s also a refrigerated case displaying beautiful earthenware pottery with prepared foods:

And there are local cheeses:

And all kinds of meat. Beef, lamb, pork, chicken:

The food is as delicious as it is gorgeous:

I’m working on a little video and will post it as soon as I can!

Table Local Market: 11 Babbitt Road, Bedford Hills. 914-241-0269, tablelocalmarket.com

Grand opening: 10 to 6 p.m. Saturday. Cow Magnet, a classic rock and kids’ music group led by Mark Weigel, will perform. Farmers and gardeners will be on hand, and chef Jonathan Pratt will be grilling meats and handing out samples of Table’s prepared foods.

And you might catch a glimpse of JG buying goods for his Saturday night supper!
