Just in time for Memorial Day weekend, the government has issued a recall for close to 100,000 pounds of beef produced at Valley Meats in Coal Valley, Ill. The meat is sold under a variety of brands, but all carry the establishment number “EST. 5712” inside the USDA mark of inspection. The (2-1), (3-1), (4-1), (5-1) and (6-1) markings refer to the number of portions per one-pound.
Here’s the link to the USDA press release, which lists the brands. They are: 3S, Grillmaster, J & B, Klub, Thick ‘N Savory and Ultimate.
Here is a link to a UPI story explaining the recall.
Check your fridge and freezer! As my friend just said: “Reason #744 to get that attachment for the KitchenAid and grind your own. Cheaper and oh so tasty!”
