Food Finds in the Lower Hudson Valley

More on Melt Sandwich Shop

June
30

I promised I’d be back for further investigation. Melt Sandwich Shop, the new takeout place in White Plains, is doing amazing things.  Owners Bill Hall and Kristin Mulrane make everything fresh daily — including the flat bread itself. This Cuban, with rosemary-mustard marinated pork loin, pickles, Swiss cheese and spicy (super spicy!) mustard, was really terrific:

The shop is on Mamaroneck Avenue, right next to Good To Go. (That’s another favorite of mine, BTW. Post coming soon….):

In the summer there are a few sidewalk tables:

You walk in and the menu is hanging behind the open kitchen:

First step, choose your roll. short, flat or long.

Second step, choose your meat from the daily roasts and smokes. Or go for the grilled pizza. My husband got a pomodoro, with slow roasted tomatoes, fresh basil, whole milk mozzarella and pomodoro sauce:

Wildly good. We also shared a wedge salad, which comes with bacon and blue cheese dressing. Don’t you love the shape of these convenient plastic salad containers?

A close up:

I got the flat bread with rosemary-mustard pork loin, served with the Cuban fixings: Swiss, pickles and spicy mustard:

We took some things back to the office. My colleague Bob got the Italian ‘za, with mozz, broccoli rabe, fresh tomaot, roasted peppers, onions, basil and pomodoro sauce:

I had a taste. Delicious.

And my colleague Linda got the field green salad with grilled chicken:

It comes with baby greens, granny smith apples, gorgonzola, candied walnuts, sundried cranberries and balsamic. Fresh as can be.

Even the bags are cute.

Definitely head over to Melt. You won’t be disappointed.

The 411 on Melt is coming soon. Until then: 277 Mamaroneck Ave. near Carhart, in White Plains. 914-358-1364.

These sandwiches look so sinful, we are definitely heading there to try them out. Lots of people said good things about this place on Chowhound, so we’re excited to try it out. I hope they are good!
