Food Finds in the Lower Hudson Valley

Jury Duty Lunch No. 4: Wasabi Grill in New City

October
23

The thing about Wasabi Grill: I’ve been there before, and the salmon belly is so good it haunts me. So even though I was tempted by the more “lunchy” things, like a grilled tuna sandwich that looked really delicious, I couldn’t not get the salmon belly. I was trapped:

I also didn’t want to get something like a bento box or a steak… the heartier things on the menu… too much food for working hours. So I ordered a few pieces of sashimi.

I sat at the sushi bar:

There was one big group in the restaurant —

— and a few tables of twos and fours.

So here’s the deal: The food is great. The service is quick. But the restaurant might be better if you’re with friends. I don’t mind eating alone, but you have to have the confidence to sit at a table or the sushi bar by yourself. Because this isn’t the kind of place (like Potato Republic or Drop By Gourmet) where there are a ton of singles. And also, unlike Potato Republic or Drop By Gourmet, you’ll be getting table service. OK with that? Then Wasabi Grill is for you.

Jury Duty Pros
Delicious food.
Creative menu. (Not your same-old, for sure.)
Prompt service.
Pleasant setting.

Jury Duty Cons
Some people might feel they need a friend to dine with.
You’re not going to get any work done because you’re going to be too busy enjoying the food.

Jury Duty Rating
Two out of four gavels.

The 411 on Wasabi Grill.
